Team Rocket: The criminal minds behind a devious society.
|

Who is Team Rocket?
Team Rocket is the less-than-perfect evil organization; they dabble in just about everything, both legal and illegal. The general public knows enough about them to acknowledge their lower acts of terrorism and simple crimes. However, these are just petty misdemeanors when compared to Team Rocket's greater misdeeds. The team has an amazingly extensive and complex network running throughout Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and now Rosemallow – not to mention any other places in which they may already be established, such as the Orange Islands. Team Rocket is not always the one holding the cards, either; people from ordinary walks of life are also involved with their plans, and some don't even know it. Considering the vast amount of people within their network, the network itself is mainly used for importing and exporting Pokémon, Pokémon goods, and information.
In the past, the Team Rocket headquarters were built and established in Game Corners (casinos). Years since the Celadon and the Silph Co. incidents, Team Rocket headquarters are now more cunningly hidden. What society thinks is one of the best Pokémon merchandise stores may actually be the place where unexplained incidents occur. Some of the lesser known objectives of Team Rocket involve performing inhumane biological experiments on Pokémon. An ideal example of such a creation is Mewtwo: a Pokémon engineered from alterations of Mew's genes to become the world's most powerful Pokémon. The Mewtwo project was covered up, but it's still the only confirmed successful biological experiment, and Team Rocket may eventually want to try again. . .
What is Red Letter Inc.?
Redletter Incorportaion is a famous Pokémon franchise with their base of operations currently set in Obsidian City. They have the largest collection of Pokémon merchandise stashed in one location, with plushies and funiture all the way to the most expensive diamond collars and fashion accessories, and even Pokéfood. The building itself is 8 stories high, and only the first 3 levels are open to the public. Of course, the next two levels beyond that are dedicated to cubicles and offices for any of the main employees. Whatever lies beyond these floors is unseen by the pulic eye. What the people don't know can't hurt them, right?
Wrong. Redletter Inc. is actually the cover-up operation for Team Rocket's deeds. Although on the outside, Redletter Inc. radiates a warm, happy atmosphere, in reality the company sponsors all of the Rockets with its (huge) proceeds. The large underground warehouses are utilized for stolen Pokémon or other goods, and the higher levels cater exclusively to Team Rocket executives and scientists. It's no surprise that the top level belongs to both the CEO of Redletter Inc. and the millionaire genius of Team Rocket: the boss. The further specifics of Redletter Inc. are, of course, still shrouded in mystery.
What are the ranks within Team Rocket?
Grunts The lowest rank of them all, is the Grunt. They do the dirty work for anyone higher in rank than themselves and are generally not allowed to have any evolved Pokémon unless given permission. They may ask to borrow a Pokémon with an executive's approval to ensure the success of a mission; however, they're not really respected unless they can provide something of beneficial value to the upper ranks. All new members start off as a Grunt.
Scientists Awarded a little more respect and freedom than the Grunts, scientists employed under Team Rocket are the brainiacs behind the (often cruel) Pokémon experiments. They often cooperate under an executive and construct specific plans detailing only the task at hand, not its underlying objectives. And just for the record, not all Rocket scientists are biology nerds - some tinker with Pokémechanics.
Executives With almost unbridled freedom and authority at their disposal, any Rocket promoted to Executive must have made a name for himself one way or another. At any rate, these people are crafty individuals and may not appear any different from the average Joe, yet they strategize and manage the primary missions of a crime syndicate. To get promoted is one thing; to gain the trust of the mysterious Rocket Boss is another, and all recommendations go through the executive first.
Leadership Often refereed to as the head of Team Rocket, it's unclear just who exactly the leader of the organization are. It's speculation that Giovanni returned, however, it's an unlikely rumor. Some say the boss is a man, other say the boss is a woman, and few dare to think that there's a leadership divided between two people. The presence is very real among the Rocket organization; there's always a punishment and sometimes people go missing altogether after being called upon by the boss. There's a clear dictatorship within the deviant's society, and even harder to determine where it comes from.
What are Prototype Pokémon?
It's well known for Team Rocket to experiment with Pokémon DNA in the same fashion as they did with the creation of Mewtwo. Only this time, it seems that Team Rocket has found a new way to cleverly create different Pokémon. With extreme manipulation of Pokémon genes, Team Rocket has produced yet another series of Pokémon never before seen by the world. . . and they're kept under a top secret policy. However Team Rocket has been up to much more than just creating new Pokémon; they're also experimenting on regular Pokémon, indefinitely changing their genes to whatever they please.
A lot of Pokémon end up like their first Pokémon experiment: Pikachu 001. Although the battle capability of the Pokémon remained unaltered, Pikachu 001 ended up a bright pink variation with purple spots. They're still considered to be the prototypes of their unfinished project, however it seems that the public has gone and labeled these altered Pokémon as painted reject Pokémon. Either term works: painted Pokémon, Pokémon rejects, or prototype, they're still a part of a very unseen plan.
